Celebration

Hello there, my faithful readers!

We can talk about the replacement ref’s bogus during with the Packers-Seahawks game. Or we can talk about the wrecked car that mysteriously appeared in ICO’s Courtyard one morning last week. Or we can once again talk about the awesome life of an ICO fourth year.

Let’s go with the last option.

Since you last read, I traveled to Raleigh, N.C. with some classmates. We road-tripped to Charlotte, enjoyed impeccable Southern hospitality and cooking, and took in the sights of a downtown that smelled of cinnamon rolls. The nightlife was vivacious and the late-night breakfast buffet was a marvelous mistake. And, oh yeah: We took our National Board of Examiners in Optometry Part 3 somewhere in the mix, too.

NBEO Part 3 can be scheduled anytime during your fourth year, but it has to be taken at the testing center in Charlotte. It can even be taken before Part 2, which is usually in December with a much more flexible location.

This practical (it’s not even a real test) is nowhere near as difficult or stressful as any of its counterparts. Students can prepare a few days in advance and still come out feeling accomplished and entitled to a celebration. And celebrate we did.

Now please do not misunderstand. My intentions are not to make you envious of my awesome life. I am a mere messenger, spreading the word that not only is there a light at the end of the tunnel, but this light strobes onto a rotating disco ball above a sea of smiles and laughter. Before you know it, you’re going to be swimming in that sea.
